From global shocks to Slovak reality: today’s geopolitical and economic challenges
The world is changing rapidly before our eyes, and this affects Slovakia all the more because we are a small country with a very open economy, bordering Ukraine, where the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II is taking place. Deglobalization, trade wars, the war in Ukraine, the climate crisis, the EU’s problems with defense capabilities and competitiveness, and the technological revolution based on artificial intelligence are all trends that influence the politics and economic policy of every country, including Slovakia. In Slovakia, there are also our specific problems related to the increasing lag behind comparable countries in Central and Eastern Europe. Where is the world and Europe heading, and what does this mean for us? Where are we and why are we there? What needs to be done to succeed in a rapidly changing world?
