Andries Retief started his career with DHL Supply Chain in 2009 as the finance manager for the automotive business unit in South Africa. In 2014 he led the transport agenda for East Africa, driving a strong performance and increased revenues. In 2016 he was appointed managing director of DHL Supply Chain East Africa, and later he moved to Poland as head of operations excellence in 2017. In this position, he was responsible for the quality and effectiveness of operational delivery in five countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia and Hungary).
Andries has a proven track record in standardization, continuous improvement, innovation, digitalization, project delivery, operational implementation and quality. Under his leadership, the quality and effectiveness of operational delivery in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia and Hungary has significantly improved. He has been pivotal in the success of large CEE operational start-ups for multi-national customers in e-commerce and the consumer sector. In 2019 he was appointed CEO of DHL Supply Chain Central and Eastern Europe.
Before DHL, Andries has spent 14 years working for multi-national groups based in South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, as well as Central& Eastern Europe. His roles have included the management and executive leadership of the operational, strategic and logistics businesses as well as leading the finance area. He graduated from the University of Warwick, UK, with a Masters of Business Administration degree.
