Panel discussion: Automation in the world of e-commerce in the time of the corona crisis
Online shopping has grown significantly during the pandemic. This increased the burden for logistics processes in e-commerce. More shopping means more goods to be ordered, stored, picked and transported to bricks-and-mortar sites. The location of logistics centers is also important, and the question arises in this regard – is it better to be closer to the customer or the logistics hub (including the port), which we use within the chain? How will lead time and storage costs change? And is it better to use 3PL, 4PL or even 5PL services? Another big topic is automation. The onslaught was better managed by companies that already had automated logistics processes. E-commerce simply cannot survive today without logistics automation.
