Excursion to the IKEA Components factory and warehouse in Malacky
IKEA Components develops, buys, assembles, packs and distributes furniture components, shop fittings, materials for suppliers of the IKEA group and provides after-sales service. The company buys components from manufacturers all over the world, packs them into sets and delivers them to its customers – furniture manufacturers for IKEA department stores.
The company was founded in 2000 under the name Modul Service, since 2007 it has been using the trade name IKEA Components and is based near Bratislava in Malacky. The parent company IKEA Components is based in Sweden, where all global functions and component development are concentrated. The sister unit, which mainly covers the market of Asian countries, is located in Nantong, China. The unit in Malacca serves the needs of the IKEA supply chain within Europe, the Middle East and America.
IKEA Components in Slovakia annually packs 300 million packages or boxes with components on 60 automatic and 8 semi-automatic machines in continuous 4-shift operation. After the most recent expansion in 2017, a 31-meter-high automated warehouse with 82,000 pallet positions grew in Malacky. 21 automatic trucks are used for internal logistics.
